4. During the Conference itself, participants will receive their mail, phone messages, and telegrams at the Conference's Information and Registration Desk of the Hotel. II. WORKING DOCUMENTS 5. The Draft Programme of the Conference will be sent out on 15 September. The Conference documents will be provided to the participants upon their official registration before the beginning of the meeting. 6. Participants are reminded that the Secretariat will not be able to assure typing services, translation, or xeroxing of individual documents. Consequently, participants are asked to bring with them typed copies of their documents in one of the working languages, in order to facilitate the work of the Conference Secretariat. NB: If you will make report on the conference, please read the tips for your presentation. III. WORKING LANGUAGES 7. The working languages of the Conference will be English and Russian. Simultaneous interpretation will be carried out in these two languages. IV. AVAILABLE SERVICES AND FACILITIES 8. The following equipment will be available for presentations and demonstrations:
9. The Hotel "Hayat Regency Rakhat Palace" has all communication services (telephones, telex, faxes). The hotel has bars, cafeterias, restaurants, and an indoor swimming pool. Other facilities can be found: banking service, travel agency, newspaper stand-shop, restaurants, and transport facilities. V. LODGING 10. Three lunch breaks, cocktail and dinner of all participants will be offered by the organizers. Travel and accommodation of the 12 European participants are covered by the organizers. The others are requested to cover travel and accommodation from their own funds. The following hotels are suggested:
11. We would recommend the Otrar Hotel (former "Intourist") which has all the facilities corresponding to 3-4 star Hotel. It was the first hotel for foreign tourists in Almaty, built in 1980s. 12. Participants are asked to return the attached Hotel reservation request form (Annex I) signed, by 30 August 1998 at the latest, to the address indicated on the form. NB: The transfers to the Conference venue will be arranged from the Otrar Hotel only. VI. ENTERING FORMALITIES 13. Please fill in the Registration form attached and send it to Ms Alma Jhanazarova who will issue an invitation to enable you to apply for visa. The Kazakhstan Embassies and Consulates in Europe are requested to facilitate visa delivering to the Conference participants. Please indicate that you are travelling to Kazakstan to participate in the Eurasia Online'98 Conference when applying for visa. 14. Kazakhstan consulate services in Europe:

VIII. ARRIVAL ARRANGEMENTS 16. The Conference welcome service will be present in the Almaty International Airport from Monday 5 to Wednesday 7 October. 17. Upon your arrival and passage through the customs services, a welcome service will direct you to the special-bus, which will take you to the hotel. The same bus will take you from the hotel to the airport. IX. CURRENCY 18. There is no limit on the amount of cash that participants may bring with them in cash or travelers cheques. However, it is sometimes difficult to retrieve currency with your credit card and there are high commissions on travel cheques. US dollars in cash and German marks can be easily changed at numerous authorized dealers. 19. The Kazakh tenge is the monetary unit of the country. As an example, the official exchange rate in July 1998 is as follows:
NB: These exchange rates are subject to modification. X. CLIMATE AND ELECTRICITY 20. In October, the temperature during the day can be between 10° and 20° C. The weather is quite variable; it could be dry and sunny or rainy and cold. Participants are advised to bring a raincoat and an umbrella.
