Dear colleagues,

We are informing you that an International Workshop on distance education in the frame of the project "Development of new markets for telematic products in Central Asia "DENEMA is going to be held and inviting all the interested experts to take part in it . The workshop is BEING devoted to the problems which will be being analysed on the concluding International Conference of the European Commission "Eurasia ONLINE'98", oriented on development of new markets for network computer supplements in Central Asia.

Section subjects:

  1. European Commission and UNESCO projects in the field of distance education (Various models, methods and approaches to the distance education development in the different countries. The role of European Commission and UNESCO in development of distance education global conception).
    Co-chairmen of the section: official of UNESCO Information and Information Science Department D. Ph. Dana Ziyasheva, Director of UNESCO National Commission in Kyrgyz Republic D. Ph. A. Karasaeva.

  2. State educational policy of Central Asia countries. (On the way to the complex distance education conception in Central Asia: high school, vocational school, university. Integrative conception of distance education in Kyrgyzstan. The Kyrgyz State National University experience).
    Co-chairmen of the section: European Commission representative D. Ph. J. Babo, first deputy minister of education, science and culture PhD., professor Y.N. Brimkulov.

  3. Infrastructure, methods and information technologies in ONLINE-education development. Methodology of distance education. (Distance education conception and computer technologies. Significance of global Internet network. Developments of distance education infrastructure. Training computer programs, multimedia production, electronic libraries and electronic textbooks. WWW-servers in INTERNET. Organisation of remote access to educational data banks, Internet service providers)

  4. Communication technologies in distance education (Telematic facilities and communications. Competitive technologies. Application of compound telematic facilities, Internet, videoconferences, TV, radio, audio and video materials, voice telephony (CTI), polygraphic production. Technology of creation of multimedia production on CD, audio production on CD and magnetic disks, analogous Tele video production on magnetic carriers).

Place where the workshop will be held: Kyrgyz Republic, 720024 Bishkek, Frunze street, 547. Kyrgyz State National University, International Educational programs integration Institute.

The workshop will be held on: May 24-26, 1998.

Working languages of the workshop: English, Kyrgyz and Russian.

The publication of reports in languages which they are made on is being supposed providing texts are being presented (on diskette, WORD, and as a hard copy). Volume of report for publishing - 10000 symbols.

Workshop technical equipment:

  1. Complex for lectures (multimedia video projector which can be linked up to 2 computers simultaneously.
  2. Overhear projector.
  3. TV Supra 2928.
  4. Video player Supra.
  5. Personal computers Pentium-200, linked up to Internet network (speed of information transmission by communication link - 32 Kbps).

Taxi service attached to hotel is available in accordance with the following tariffs:
Call – 1$ per 1 hour. Bishkek – airport Manas – 20$, Bishkek – lake Issyk-Kul – up to 140$

2. Transport tariffs within Kyrgyzstan: Airport Manas – Bishkek: travel by bus 0.5$; by fixed-route taxi 1$; taxi 20$. To reach the KSNU from any point of the city may cost you 1-2$; travelling from Almaty to Bishkek may cost approximately 100-120$.

3. International air flights from/to Bishkek: National air company "Kyrgyzstan Aba Joldory" – to Delhi (India), Istanbul (Turkey), Urumchy (PRC), Germany, Russia (from Moscow to Bishkek – every Monday, Wednesday, Friday). Turkish air company "Turkish airlines" – to Japan, USA, France, England etc. through Istanbul. Days of arrival in Bishkek and departure from it – every Wednesday and Saturday.

4. The International Holland air company "KLM" implements international air flights (through Amsterdam) to any spot of the world from/to Almaty (which is situated 240 km far from Bishkek) as well as British airways, Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa.
